empty frames.

I'm always on the look out for unique wall decor ideas, and this is my latest favourite. Pretty cheap too. Just find some old, interesting looking frames in different shapes and sizes and paint them all the same colour (or complimentary colours) and hang them however looks best. In other words, just do whatever you want with them - foolproof right? I especially like the white frames on white walls, just adds texture. And the frames with the ribbon through them, with pictures clipped to the ribbons. Above beds and dressers, and up staircases. The possibilities are endless.

nothing like fresh peaches...

For my step-sister Leah's birthday, I got her an awesome cookbook because she's a chef extraordinaire. Check out this tasty peach dessert called the "Tower of Peaches" she made. It's wontons baked with honey and layered with peaches, then topped with fresh lavender straight out of the garden. Yumm.

colour-less

I'm a big fan of colour, as you can see in most (if not all) of my posts. I just think life would be bland without it. But there's something about rooms that lack colour - only white - that seems so relaxing and peaceful. Having said that, I think what really makes it work, is that it's only white on purpose, not because no one got around to putting any colour into it. It's on purpose that all the chaos is removed and it's designed to be serene. That's what I love about it.

wedding shoes?

Hello friends! It's been awhile since I've updated, I know. I just spent the week in Portland OR/Seattle WA visiting friends and attending the Champion Centre's Team Church Conference. My head is buzzing with new thoughts and ideas that will take me days to mull over and a lifetime to live out. I feel so blessed to have been in that atmosphere being challenged by amazing leaders from across North America.

But back to the topic. I think I've found my wedding shoes! There are several reasons for choosing TOMS, not the least of which the fact that I wore them for my engagement photos and I like things to be cohesive like that. If you haven't seen them, you MUST go here and here.

Where'd you get that? Miscellanea.

Everyone must check out Miscellanea - the newest vintage shop on Etsy!

It has unique items discovered by myself and my friends Larissa (from Yours Nursingly) and Kaitlin (from Fully Pleasing). Definitely some good deals on totally cute things - even a vintage leather COACH purse and fun oxford shoes.

Tell your friends!!

Engaged!

Guess what blog-friends, I'm getting married!! Yay!!! I'm sure I couldn't have found a better guy for me, and I'm totally overwhelmed by how loved and blessed I am. The proposal was amazing, the ring is beautiful, and now begins a year of planning for a great wedding day, and and even better marriage. After months of gathering wedding ideas from tons of blogs, I finally get to put them all to use for my own special day! Here's a few pics from the day he popped the question...

Ruche.

Just discovered this online boutique called Ruche, based from California - but they ship to Canada! The clothes/accessories are vintage inspired, and really affordable, even with the shipping. Might have to order something sometime...

I enjoy these cute spaces and organization ideas I saw on design*sponge today. Especially the bold wallpaper!

On the mannequin.

Guess what! I got a dressmaker's model for my birthday! More commonly known as a mannequin, except this one has an adjustable bust, waist, and hips. I just put it together - now to figure out how to use it...

Here it is modeling another recent creation. I found this blue paneled material buried on the clearance shelf at fabricland, only $3.50. And it was SUPER easy to make. I just cut out 2 panels and sewed the sides like a tube, then folded the top down at the width of the elastic band. Then I pinched in the waistband and stitched it in the same way (to the size of the elastic). I haven't even hemmed it, and I likely won't because it's jersey, so it rolls like a hem, and doesn't fray anyway! Maybe I'll put together a tutorial sometime...

mmm, flowers.

Not just any flowers, fabric flowers. Thanks for the idea, Dolci Odille.
