Somehow every trend reappears. I'm kinda liking the long skirt thing again...maybe...I think...sort of? Still in the 'admiring from afar' phase. Maybe I'll try making one - if I wear it, I'll move into the 'embracing the trend' phase. Or something like that. Anyway, here's the inspiration.

And my personal favourite - J. Crew (of course!)

Love this space I saw on design*sponge today. So much to look at! Here are my favourite parts:
Built in shelves, great area rug, patterned chairs in the middle of the room! (not all furniture must line the walls..)

Jenni and I were working together at the restaurant this summer, and she mentioned she had a cool DIY project - picture blocks - and I told her to send me a pic and I would make her a guest blogger... so here it is! Love this cute idea, especially good for a personalized gift. Here's what Jenni says:
"I love making these photo blocks for gifts. This is the second "batch" I've made. It is a pretty inexpensive gift, but fun to make, a good conversation piece, and they stay in good condition for a long time. These blocks are 3" x 3" (made with my friend's dad's scrap wood) and covered with misc. leftover scrapbooking paper. The photos are wallet size (printed at Zehr's with the corners rounded by ME!). I use Mod-Podge (from Michael's) and sponges to glue the scrapbooking paper and photos on to the blocks. After letting the glue on the back of the photos dry over night, I totally coated all sides of the block with Mod-Podge. This makes the blocks waterproof and keeps the photos safe from scratches. Virtually indestructible (maybe). :) Simple, fun, and cute!"
Thanks for taking me up on the offer to guest blog Jenni!! All the best in Ohio!
Love this idea from How About Orange! Create a pattern using tape, then fabric paint over it. When it dries, peel off the tape and you have a great pattern! Then sew the fabric into a pillow cover, or something fun! I'm so doing this. Check out the full blog and instructions here.

It's just fabulous. Their fall 2010 collection, I mean. Love the way they use certain fabrics in interesting ways (sequined shorts, anyone?). Plus, they do the basics better than anyone. See what I mean?
This cardigan is like "wearing artwork".
Ugh, the dresses. In case you didn't know, J.Crew also has a wedding line....yep.

Finally done the chair I started re-covering 6 months ago! Well, almost. All that's left are the tufting buttons and the wooden dowels I seem to have misplaced (oops), so don't mind the golf tees that are holding the whole thing up. But still! I covered the cushions first, then I decided to redo the canvas part as well. The only original part are the wooden legs and the rope. Thanks to my Aunt Donna (who's brilliant!) it's done! She helped me take the gross brown canvas apart to use it as the pattern for putting together the blue canvas. So smart. Took a bunch of figuring out, and a couple machine issues, but we did it! I'm still thinking I might paint the legs or something...maybe re-stain them? I'm not a huge fan of the light wood, but I don't know yet... Comment with your thoughts/suggestions!
Here's a few photos for you...
