remind me to try this.

happy things.

Some things just make me happy. I think everyone should have a list of those things in life that just lift them. Like fresh flowers, which brings me to my post today. I've heard many girls say getting fresh flowers really doesn't mean much to them - they find it cliche. Really??? I mean really?? I can't fathom having too many fresh flowers around. I suppose I can see how the whole "dozen red roses" thing seems typical. But I gotta tell ya - they still do it for me. Still happy. Also, fresh flowers in unexpected places at unexpected moments - INDESCRIBABLE.

love this designer.

If I could hang out with any designer right now, it would be this girl. Carol-Hannah Whitfield was in the finals of Project Runway last season, and I loooooved her collection. The top pic is from a Project Runway challenge - it's totally made out of newspaper...crazy! Her website is totally cute too... www.carol-hannah.com

some Christmas gifts.

for people who sew.

www.burdastyle.com is a cool website to get free patterns from... I've never actually printed any off, I just love the thought of being able to share great ideas! This dress is on my list of things to make next..

a long awaited makeover.

This old chair has seen a couple decades of use. It's been around as long as I can remember, so it's kind of like a security blanket for me. Unfortunately, that brown corduroy is disgusting. It's so full of stains that we would cover the chair with a blanket so no one would notice. The design of the chair is so awesome though...I had to find a way to keep it. So, I got a bit creative and recovered the cushions. I also made some side panels to fit. It's not quite finished (The dark brown sling part is also in rough shape) - but it's definitely an improvement!

a little dinner party.

For my 21st birthday last year, I decided to have a little dinner party. Setting the table for this affair was an absolute thrill. I found some cute wrapping paper at Chapters which I used as a table runner. I also got some a stalk of bamboo for each of my guests which I put in little dollar store candle holders with some aquarium rocks from the pet store. The favours doubled as centrepieces as well. For the main centre piece I found some almost-expired peonies, which they were selling for 50% off at the grocery store. The mirrors were a gift from my boyfriend, which I hadn't yet taken the time to put on the wall. I'm really proud of how it turned out...
