being ambitious.

Here's my latest project. I decided that I needed a cd case for my car, you know the kind that go on your visor? So I was browsing through zellers looking for one, when the thought crossed my mind - why don't I make one?? It can't be that difficult. Oh, the ambition. Anyway, it turns out it actually wasn't too hard! I used some leftover jersey that I had - love the ombre print - and layered the pockets on each other. Then I measured the visor and sewed the cover like a sleeve. I love how it turned out!

ps I'm willing to reproduce one for you for 5 bucks!

okay one more.

This one's for Kaitlin.

for good measure.

I have a little fascination with table settings.

100 layer cake

inspiration boards.

Well, I vowed I wouldn't do a post about weddings. Not yet, anyway. But let's face it - I can't resist. All I really want to say in this post, is that each wedding should be unique. I could go on and on about what I think that means, but suffice it to say - your wedding should be full of the things you enjoy - and not just what everyone else expects it to be. With that, here are some good inspiration boards I've collected. Not my favourites (I mean, let's not get carried away!) but some colour palettes I find unique.

Iced Tazo Chai Latte from Starbucks...or anywhere. Even better with soy. ps You can buy a box of the chai mix and make it yourself...

just browsing.

Here are a few nice ideas I came across on the Better Homes and Gardens and Style at Home sites. You can tell I'm a fan of the cool, calm, neutral colours - I love things to be light and fresh. For example...

Toms.

I got my first pair of Toms from my boyfriend (he's the best!) - I have the red ones, and I think they're great. I say first pair, because I'm definitely going to get another pair sometime, at the very least when mine wear out. They are light, comfortable, and a perfect fit. The best part about Toms, is that for every pair you buy, they give a pair to a child in need - here's the story from their website..

"In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

Since our beginning in May 2006, TOMS has given over 400,000* pairs of shoes to children in need, through the purchases of caring customers."

I love that.

tasty things.

Need an idea for dinner? This one is soooooo good. And the best part is it was healthy and only took 15 minutes! For taco salad, we cooked ground turkey with a bit of water and some taco seasoning and let it simmer. Then we cut the lettuce, tomatoes, and some green onion, and grated some cheese. We layered the veggies and topped with the meat, and then the cheese and added a dollop of sour cream. Then we lined the plate with tortilla chips. Mmmmm, tasty.

necklace!

This morning I got the cutest necklace from my good friend Stephanie - isn't it fantastic?? It's a scrabble tile with a unique print on the front. When she told me she got it from Etsy, I was even more excited - I own something from etsy! If you've never been to this website, you must check it out. People sell their handmade things online and ship it right to you! When I have things to sell, you'll see me there for sure. It's all about the print makes necklaces like the one Stephanie got me...so cute!

skirt!

You may remember this material from my earlier post about the things I got at mood designer fabrics in LA. Here's the skirt I made! It's just a simple skirt with an elastic waist - but I'm pretty proud of it. (sorry about the awkwardness of the last pic...just trying to fit myself into the photo booth frame...maybe someday I'll get a real camera.) Oh! and the chair in the background is from my second post - I got some blue canvas to redo the sling part (to replace the worn brown stuff ). Stay tuned for the completion of that project in a later post!

canadians should know.

Joe Fresh. Honestly, you'd never guess these items are sold at grocery stores (Zehrs and Real Canadian Superstore). So cute. The best part is, almost everything is less than $40. Believe it.
