If you ever get a chance to visit LA, or Manhattan, this is a worthwhile experience. Mood Designer Fabrics. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Where else can you buy a $70 yd of printed silk from Oscar del la Renta? I didn't, by the way, but I could have. I did, however, come out with a couple yards of printed cotton which I couldn't leave behind. A bit pricier than your average Len's Mill Store - but Len doesn't sell prints like this...

(I did visit Len's Mill later for the dark grey cotton, which I want to turn into a duvet cover with the blue print. I also found a set of twin sheets in light grey for $9.99 at Target!)

I will...have an interesting headboard.

I'm absolutely loving this trend and dying to give it a try. Why spend hundreds on a new bed when you can just get the frame and customize your own headboard to fit your style? I can't think of a reason. Especially when there are dozens of good ideas like these at your fingertips.

I will...play with patterns.

Like I said in the last post, colours make things come alive - and patterns are similar. They're intriguing. They can be dangerous too, especially when they become overwhelming and make you dizzy. But placed in unexpected places/moments they can can add just the right amount of that extra "something".

I will...not be afraid of colour.

The next bunch of blogs will express some "resolutions" I've made. You know when you think something is fantastic (rather than blah) and you can't quite put your finger on what makes it that way? This is me putting my finger on it.

The first one is colour. Something about a unique colour palette makes things fantastic - it brings things to life. Maybe it's painting a wall a vibrant colour (photo 3), but not always. Accent colours are still in, and can still work well (see photo 5), but often it's about more than just one colour. I like things colourFUL. Not crazy and haphazard colourful - just enough to create visual interest. Good colours draw me in. Kinda like in these rooms...

Just the word pinecone is interesting. I just love how effortless and natural they look - they make a statement on their own. Combine that with a unique display idea - brilliant.
