Honeymoon to Greece: Part 2

After our cruise, we disembarked on the island of Santorini.  This island was absolutely the highlight for us - the villages, the views, the food, and the adventures.  As you can tell by the pictures, the island of Santorini is very narrow and cliff-like.  Most of the buildings are built at the top of the cliff and overlook the Aegean Sea.  Because the island is so narrow, there are many places where you can see the Sea on both sides!  Also, Santorini is only approximately 30km from end to end, so it is easy to see the whole island in one day (especially if you rent a scooter or ATV, which we did).  The island is in a semi-circle around a caldera (active volcano), which is part of what makes the view from Santorini so unique.  Another unique feature of Oia (prounounced ee-ah), one of the most popular villages in Santorini, are the blue-domed churches.  Santorini is an incredibly beautiful place - we were not disappointed!

 Next: Crete and Athens!
